Having an objective can differ considerably from having an agenda. Through VSR Advisory Services, our objective is to be objective. Because we’re an independent registered investment adviser, we have no investment offerings to promote, and no sales quota to meet. Our agenda? Getting you the best advice—and giving you the freedom—to make the right decisions.
Offering fee-based services at VSR originated from the desires and needs of our Reps to develop recurring revenue. Because VSR is committed to putting the Rep first, VSR Advisory Services was conceived to provide our Reps with a consulting approach to doing business. Receiving quarterly reviews, and being paid quarterly, enables Reps to budget better for overhead, market changes, and transaction business.
VSR Advisory Services began in 1993 and today is registered with the SEC through VSR to provide services in all fifty states. As a Rep of VSR Advisory Services, you may offer a full range of fee-based advisory services while avoiding the time and cost of a major portion of the bookkeeping associated with providing those services. Fee-based planning, Rep driven programs like the MAP program, and third party adviser referrals are all part of what has made VSR Advisory Services an appropriate choice for most VSR Reps. VSR Advisory Services has over $1.8 billion under management.
Fee-Based Planning Although we don’t market services as “comprehensive,” VSR Advisory Services allows our Reps to offer the services they wish, subject to home office approval. The plan may include services such as retirement planning analysis, education funding planning, and portfolio analysis. Reps are given the option for charging either a fixed fee for a particular service or an hourly rate at their discretion.
Key Features:
- Turnkey Program - Continue to use the software your office is already familiar with
- Flat Fee or Hourly Rate - Reps may charge an unlimited flat fee or $75-$350 per hour
- High Payout - VSR Advisory pays out at 90% or higher on Financial Planning fees
- No Admin Fee - Clients make checks to "VSR Advisory" or they can have the fee withdrawn from a brokerage account
The MAP Program In today’s fast-paced world, many investors do not have the time or expertise to manage their increasingly complex investment portfolios. Others are looking for an alternative to the commissions Reps traditionally charge.
The Managed Asset Planning Program (MAP) offers you expert guidance as a professional asset manager. Instead of commissions, clients pay an annual fee based on the value of their portfolio. Through MAP, Reps are rewarded for giving sound advice and building clients’ wealth.
MAP clients meet with you, their adviser, to review their financial assets, establish their goals and objectives, and discuss a plan for their financial future. On an ongoing basis, Reps can discuss economic and financial developments that impact on a client’s portfolio. Monthly statements and quarterly reports provide performance details on individual securities and your client’s overall portfolio.

Third Party Advisers and Managed Accounts Managing and servicing large amounts of money can be challenging for many Reps. VSR Advisory Services provides many boutique money managers and popular platforms from which Reps can select. We’ve chosen the premier investment advisers in the country, so our Reps know they have the oldest and largest firms at their command.
In addition, VSR Advisory Services is receptive to your proposals. For example, if a Rep specifies a money manager in their home town and that manager checks out, the Rep can use that money manager at no penalty. Our supporting vendor list is there to guide you, not restrict you.
VSR Advisory Services has also partnered with several vendors to provide VSR Reps with many managed account options. These options include mutual fund wrap, ETF and SMA portfolio opportunities, including multiple SMA managers in a single account. While some managers cover the VSR Admin Fee, others may have a fee of 5 bps for accounts under $500,000 and 3 bps for accounts over $500,000. Our staff is always available to provide “case study” assistance to guide you through the maze of options and give details on specific third party managers and platforms.
